Dimitra & Yiannis

Some weeks ago we were invited to celebrate and photograph the wedding of our very good friends Dimitra and Yiannis in Greece. It was a wonderful day - we had a lot of fun and took a lot of pictures ... One of the most beautiful parts of the orthodox wedding ceremony is the exchange of the stefana, two 'crowns' connected by a ribbon, symbolizing the connection between the husband and wife, which are crossed over the heads of the couple by the best man or the maid of honor. Here the priest is presenting the stefana and blessing the couple.
Another, equally important part of a greek weeding is ... the dancing during the party following the church ceremony. Here the couple is dancing with their koumbaros, the greek version of the best man.
